I turn 40 on 4/21/08

Well I am really having a hard time with this upcoming birthday and need to be slapped around a bit. It is not the age because I feel young and I am in pretty good shape but the fact that I am leaving the 30's forever freaks the ever loving crap out of me. I don't want to buy a sports car or date a younger woman (though I wouldn't necessarily be opposed or offended to the latter scenario) I just need some guidance and ideas from others as to how to handle this moment in my life. Thanks for any input you might have for an "old" man.

But do something special. Go to a ball game. Buy a motorcycle. Ride a horse, whatever you always wanted to do. Then don't stop. Just keep doing those things. One thing I did when I turned 40 was say, Why did I not do all the stuff I wanted to do? And then just started doing it. So rethink all your old inhibitions and just get out there and do stuff. Treat it like people do with a new years resolution. Think about what's important to you like work, family and self and prioritize so you don't overextend yourself. You've spent your whole life getting to where you can decide what you want your life to mean. If you haven't done it already, now is a good time to decide what that will be. People ask "what is the meaning of life" but they should ask "what is the meaning of my life". Time to find out. You're not Superman any more so take your health seriously. Be very careful about what you eat and get physicals yearly if you're able. Set up a daily exercise routine if you don't have one and start playing team sports at least weekly. [ Reply to Comment ]
